Toyota Tacoma 3rd gen (N300) wheel fitment

The third-generation Tacoma is commonly fitted with 16- or 17-inch wheels and all-terrain tyres. Mild builds retain near-standard tyre diameters, while 33-inch setups need closer attention to the front body mounts and wheelarch liners.

Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

Factory wheels with taller all-terrains

Front and rear
16 × 7 inch, ET25 · 265/75 R16

Documented on standard TRD Off-Road alloys without rubbing. Check mudflap clearance with the chosen tyre.

TRD wheel swap and mild lift

Front and rear
17 × 7 inch, ET4 · 275/70 R17

Documented with 4Runner TRD wheels and a Toyota lift of roughly 2 inches front and 1 inch rear. Front mudflaps and liners need checking.

Lifted 33-inch trail setup

Front and rear
17 × 8.5 inch, ET0 · 285/70 R17

A common aftermarket combination with a levelling or suspension lift. Tyre shape and alignment determine whether liner trimming or body-mount clearance work is needed.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • This guide covers six-stud 2016–2023 trucks, including two-wheel-drive versions. Earlier five-stud Tacoma specifications do not apply.
  • The ThreePiece guide incorrectly lists M14 hardware in its overview; this generation uses M12x1.5 nuts, confirmed by the wheel retailer and fitment database. Toyota specifies 113 Nm.
  • Choose nuts with the seat required by the wheel. Factory Toyota alloy shank nuts are not automatically suitable for aftermarket conical seats.
  • TRD Pro wheel designs changed during this generation; those stock rows are omitted rather than treating every Pro wheel as the same offset.
  • A lift alone does not guarantee clearance at full steering lock and suspension compression.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

These tools start with the SR / SR5, standard 16-inch wheels front size. Choose your own trim or axle in the calculator if it differs.

Questions

What is the bolt pattern of a third-generation Tacoma?

All 2016–2023 Tacomas use 6x139.7 with a 106.1 mm centre bore and M12x1.5 wheel nuts.

Will 33-inch tyres fit a stock Tacoma?

Some combinations can be made to fit, but 285/70 R17 is not a guaranteed fit without rubbing. Wheel offset, alignment, liners and body mounts all matter.

Do fourth-generation Tacoma wheels fit a third-generation truck?

They are not a direct replacement. The newer wheels have a smaller centre bore and use different stud hardware.

What torque do Tacoma wheel nuts need?

Toyota specifies 113 Nm for the factory wheel installation on this generation.

What size tyres does the Toyota Tacoma 3rd gen (N300) have?

Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 2016–2023 Toyota Tacoma 3rd gen (N300) are 245/75 R16, 265/70 R16, 265/65 R17 and 265/60 R18, depending on trim. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.
