How we research
Our guides, car pages and calculators are written and maintained by the BuildMyWhip team. This page explains where the numbers come from, what they can and can't tell you, and how to tell us when something is wrong.
Car fitment data
Each of our 211 car guides lists the sources its figures were checked against at the bottom of the page: 1,554 links in total, from fitment databases and wheel makers' fitment pages to owner's manuals, service information and owner forums.
Every car guide shows the date it was last updated and a source confidence rating. 131 are rated high. Medium means some figures were harder to confirm or vary more by market and trim, so check your own car before relying on them.
Popular setups are what owners commonly run, with the notes that come with them. They are a starting point, not a factory approval.
Calculations
Our 12 tools and the tyre size, comparison and bolt pattern pages use published formulas, shown on each page: tyre diameter from the size code, offset and backspacing from wheel width, and so on. The same code produces the calculators and the reference tables, so they always agree.
The results are nominal. Real tyres and wheels vary by model, pressure, load and wear, so the maker's own specification wins.
Guides
Our 23 guides start from the questions people actually ask about wheels, tyres and stance, and each section links to the sources behind its claims. Each guide shows the date it was last updated, and we change that date only when the content changes.
We use AI tools to help research and draft. Figures and claims are checked against the linked sources before they are published.
Previews
The studio uses an AI image model to show how mods could look on your car. A preview shows the look, not whether parts physically fit. Use the fitment guides and tools for that, and confirm with a wheel and tyre professional before you buy.
Corrections
If a figure is wrong for your car, email jkxcgy4@googlemail.com with the page and, if you can, a source. We check it and update the page and its date.
