Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

Touring on factory alloys

Front and rear
17 × 7.5 inch, ET30 · 265/70 R17

Pradopoint owners document this on standard GXL-type wheels, including a 2003 vehicle with a 2-inch lift. Check the spare carrier and tyre clearances.

Lifted 33-inch-class setup

Front and rear
17 × 8 inch, ET20 · 285/70 R17

A documented Pradopoint combination. Check upper control arms, mudflaps and body clearance through steering and suspension travel; other owners use lower offsets, so this is not a universal no-rub specification.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • Toyota owner manual OM60D50E specifies 113 Nm. Some workshop and forum tables list 112 Nm, while 103 Nm is often quoted for the later Prado 150. The owner-manual value is used here.
  • The 17x6 ET50 GX wheel is not equivalent to the 17x7.5 ET30 GXL wheel. Confirm whether the vehicle has factory arch extensions.
  • Tyres wider or taller than stock need clearance checks at full compression, not only at normal ride height.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.
