The V2 and VZ Monaro, sold in the US as the 2004–2006 Pontiac GTO, came on 17 or 18-inch wheels 8 inches wide at ET48. Owners usually go to wider 18 or 19-inch wheels, often with a 9.5-inch rear, and drag-racing GTOs often fit the widest rear tyre the arches will take. The rear arch lip, not the brakes, is what limits most setups.

Quick specs
Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO V2/VZ hub and fastener specifications
Apex's GTO fitment guide marks this as its popular staggered fitment and lists it as a direct fit, with 245/40 R18 front and 275/35 R18 rear tyres. A 255/35 R18 front is listed as a wider alternative. Apex also offers the front at ET40.
Apex lists 18x8.5 at ET35, ET40 or ET45 all round as a direct fit with 245/40 R18 tyres. It describes ET45 as a factory-style fitment and ET35 as a flusher aftermarket look.
Apex lists this as a direct fit with 255/40 R18 tyres on factory brakes, but says cars converted to CTS-V brakes need a 1/4-inch (about 6 mm) front spacer.
Apex's 17-inch square option, a direct fit with 245/40 R17 tyres. A wider 255/40 R17 may need around -1.5 degrees of front camber on some cars.
Staggered 19s, 8.5 front and 9.5 rear
Front
19 × 8.5 inch, ET35
Rear
19 × 9.5 inch, ET40
A GTO owner on the LS1Tech forum reports running 19x8.5 ET35 front and 19x9.5 ET40 rear wheels with 275-wide rear tyres and says they have never rubbed, with the rear on drag bags at low pressure. He doesn't give the front tyre size; 245/35 R19 is within about 1.5% of the factory 18-inch tyre's diameter.

Check the exact setup
There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.
Common width limit
Measure before ordering
A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.
These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.
Clearance notes
Monaro and GTO share the 5x120 pattern, 69.5 mm centre bore and M12x1.5 wheel nuts, the same as VT to VZ Commodores. Wheels with a 72.6 or 73.1 mm bore need hub-centric rings.
The 17 and 18-inch factory wheels are all 8 inches wide at ET48, so the factory tyre is the main difference between Monaro and GTO sizes. Fitment databases also list a 19x8.5 ET43 wheel with 245/35 R19 as an option on the VZ Monaro.
The rear arches are the tight spot for wide tyres. On the LS1Tech forum, one GTO with a 275/40 R18 rear tyre caught the arch even after its lips were shaved, and another on 285/35 R18 drag radials rubbed slightly under hard squat despite ground-off lips and reshaped inner wheel arches.
VE and VF Commodore wheels have a smaller centre bore, about 67 mm, so they won't seat on this hub without machining.
We have not confirmed the factory wheel-nut torque for the Monaro or GTO. Use the figure in the owner's handbook.

What is the bolt pattern of a Holden Monaro or 2004–2006 Pontiac GTO?+
5x120, with a 69.5 mm centre bore and M12x1.5 wheel nuts. Both cars are the same underneath.
What size are the factory GTO wheels?+
17x8 ET48 with 245/45 R17 tyres as standard, or 18x8 ET48 with 235/40 R18 as the option. The Monaro CV8 came on 18x8 ET48 with 235/40 R18, and the CV6 on 17x8 ET48 with 235/45 R17.
Do VT to VZ Commodore wheels fit a Monaro?+
Yes. They use the same 5x120 drilling and 69.5 mm hub, and most 17 and 18-inch factory wheels from those cars are 8 inches wide at ET48 like the Monaro's own.
Will a 275 rear tyre fit a GTO?+
Apex lists 275/35 R18 on an 18x9.5 ET58 rear as a direct fit, and one owner reports no rubbing with 275s on 19x9.5 ET40 rears. Taller 275/40 R18 and wider drag tyres have caught the rear arch on other cars, even with the lips rolled or ground, so check rear clearance with the car loaded.
What size tyres does the Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO V2/VZ have?+
Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 2001–2006 Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO V2/VZ are 235/40 R18, 235/45 R17 and 245/45 R17, depending on trim. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.
What wheel size does the Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO V2/VZ use?+
Factory wheels are 18 × 8 inch and 17 × 8 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.
What is the Holden Monaro / Pontiac GTO V2/VZ centre bore?+
69.5 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.
