Holden Commodore 3rd gen (VT/VX/VY/VZ) wheel fitment
The VT to VZ Commodore spans a decade of V6 and V8 saloons and wagons, from 15-inch wheels on the Executive to 18-inch alloys on the later SS. Because every series shares the same drilling and hub, factory wheels from one model fit another, while the hub bore rules out many later Holden wheels.

Explained in our guides
Read these before choosing wheels for the Commodore: they explain the offset, fitment and hub numbers in this guide.
- Wheel offset explained: choosing ET without guessingUnderstand positive and negative wheel offset, calculate inner clearance and outer position, and choose an ET using measurements from your own car.
- Flush, poke and tucked fitment: measure the whole tyreUnderstand flush, poked and tucked wheels, calculate how width and offset change the look, and check clearance beyond a parked side-on photograph.
- Hub-centric vs lug-centric wheels: choosing hub ringsLearn what hub rings do, how to specify their inner and outer diameters, and why centring, wheel seats and vibration need separate checks.

Offset range
Check the exact setup
There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.
Common width limit
Measure before ordering
A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.
These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.
Clearance notes
- All VT, VX, VY and VZ Commodores use 5x120 with a 69.5 mm hub bore and M12x1.5 nuts. Aftermarket wheels with a 72.6 mm or 73.1 mm bore need hub-centric rings.
- Factory offsets vary by model and source. The 15-inch base wheel is ET43 and most 16 to 18-inch factory wheels are ET48, but some databases list VZ 17 and 18-inch wheels at ET41, so check the stamp inside the wheel you are replacing.
- We have not yet found owner-documented aftermarket setups for this generation that we could check, so none are listed. Australian shop guides suggest ET35 to ET45 for flush aftermarket wheels; treat that as a starting point rather than a confirmed fit.
- Wider wheels and lowered suspension reduce clearance at both the arch lip and the strut, so check the inner gap as well as the outer edge before committing to a low offset.
- Torque figures quoted for this generation vary between sources, so we have not listed one. Use the figure in the owner's handbook.
- Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions
What is the bolt pattern of a VT, VX, VY or VZ Commodore?
5x120, with a 69.5 mm centre bore and M12x1.5 wheel nuts, across all four series.
Will VE or VF Commodore wheels fit a VT to VZ?
Not without machining. They share the 5x120 drilling, but VE and VF wheels have a bore of about 67 mm, which is smaller than the 69.5 mm hub on the earlier cars.
What wheels did the VY and VZ SS come with?
18x8 ET48 alloys with 235/40 R18 tyres. Earlier VT and VX SS models used 17x8 ET48 with 235/45 R17.
Can I fit SS wheels to a base Executive?
The bolt pattern and bore are the same, so factory SS wheels mount directly. Use the tyre size that came with the SS wheel to keep the overall diameter close to standard.
What size tyres does the Holden Commodore 3rd gen (VT/VX/VY/VZ) have?
Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 1997–2007 Holden Commodore 3rd gen (VT/VX/VY/VZ) are 205/65 R15, 215/60 R16, 235/45 R17 and 235/40 R18, depending on trim. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.
What wheel size does the Holden Commodore 3rd gen (VT/VX/VY/VZ) use?
Factory wheels are 15 × 6 inch, 16 × 7 inch, 17 × 8 inch and 18 × 8 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.
What is the Holden Commodore 3rd gen (VT/VX/VY/VZ) centre bore?
69.5 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.
