The S3 8Y uses a square 8J wheel from the factory in 18 or 19 inches. Its standard brakes leave room for 17-inch wheels with the right design, so track owners often go smaller and lighter, while street cars usually move to a wider 18 or 19-inch wheel at a slightly lower offset.

Apex's most popular S3 street fitment, a direct fit with no spacers or hub rings. 245/40 R18 or 245/35 R18 also fit; 255/35 R18 works on street tyres but not wide-shouldered track compounds.
The usual choice if you run an aftermarket big brake kit that needs 18 inches. Aggressive track tyres want extra front and rear negative camber; 265/35 R18 requires it.
Apex states its 17-inch designs clear the standard S3 8Y brakes. Extra negative camber is recommended with sticky tyres; 245/40 R17 is the easier street fit. Not suitable over most big brake kits.
Keeps the factory 19-inch look with an extra inch of width. 255/30 R19 also fits but needs added camber with track tyres.

Check the exact setup
There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.
Common width limit
Measure before ordering
A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.
These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.
Clearance notes
Factory wheels use ball-seat bolts; most aftermarket wheels use 60-degree conical seats. Swap to bolts that match the new wheel.
Torque is listed as 140 Nm. Audi's workshop table puts A3 models other than the 8L at 140 Nm, and AudiWorld and AutoSTW quote 140 Nm for the 8Y. Some retailer guides still quote 120 Nm, a figure used on earlier A3 and S3 generations, so confirm in your handbook.
Apex lists 17-inch wheels that clear the standard S3 8Y brakes. Clearance still varies by spoke design, and Apex notes its ML-10RT has less room for aftermarket big brake kits than its other designs.
Apex recommends a square setup on the quattro S3 so tyres can be rotated for even wear.
An optional 20-inch factory wheel also exists, but its offset could not be confirmed from two sources, so it is not listed.
