Audi A3 8V wheel fitment

The 8V A3 commonly uses square 17- or 18-inch aftermarket setups for daily driving and occasional track use. Wider track tyres need more attention to camber and clearance, particularly on lowered cars.

Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

17-inch daily and light track use

Front and rear
17 × 8.5 inch, ET43 · 235/45 R17

APEX lists this as a direct-fit square setup with its vehicle-specific wheel designs. Verify clearance if brakes or suspension have been changed.

18-inch road setup

Front and rear
18 × 8.5 inch, ET43 · 235/40 R18

APEX’s documented street fitment, normally without arch modifications. Use the mounting hardware specified for the particular wheel.

Wider track setup

Front and rear
18 × 9 inch, ET42 · 255/35 R18

Documented by APEX on a coilover-equipped A3. Additional negative camber front and rear is recommended for wide-shouldered track tyres; inspect full compression clearance.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • The 120 Nm figure is from Audi owner information and wheel approval documentation. Generic tables that group A3, S3 and RS3 together can list higher figures; use the A3 specification.
  • Factory wheels use spherical-seat bolts. Aftermarket wheels may use a different seat or bolt length, so do not assume the factory bolts fit every 5x112 wheel.
  • The stock rows cover documented hatchback and Sportback packages. Saloon, Cabriolet, e-tron and optional 19-inch wheel dimensions are not filled in where a complete factory specification was not established.
  • S3 and RS3 brake and wheel packages are excluded from the stock data. Brake clearance still depends on wheel design.
  • Keep tyre sizes and rolling circumference compatible across all four wheels, especially on quattro versions.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions

What is the Audi A3 8V bolt pattern?

It uses 5x112 with a 57.1 mm centre bore and M14x1.5 wheel bolts.

Can an A3 8V use 17-inch aftermarket wheels?

Yes. APEX documents 17x8.5 ET43 with 235/45 R17 tyres for standard A3 brakes. Modified brakes need a separate clearance check.

Will 18x9 wheels fit an A3 8V?

A documented track setup uses 18x9 ET42 with 255/35 R18 tyres. Wide track compounds benefit from additional negative camber and careful clearance checks.

What torque do the wheel bolts need?

Audi specifies 120 Nm for the factory A3 installation. Follow any additional instructions for the approved aftermarket wheel and bolts.

What size tyres does the Audi A3 8V have?

Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 2012–2020 Audi A3 8V are 205/55 R16, 225/45 R17 and 225/40 R18, depending on trim. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.

What wheel size does the Audi A3 8V use?

Factory wheels are 16 × 6.5 inch, 17 × 7.5 inch and 18 × 7.5 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.

What is the Audi A3 8V centre bore?

57.1 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.
