Audi RS5 B9 (F5) wheel fitment

The B9 RS5 coupe and Sportback leave the factory on 9-inch wheels, which look narrow under the wide RS arches. Owners usually go square at 10 to 10.5 inches wide, either a light 19-inch set for driving or a 20-inch set at around ET20 to ET25 for a flush look.

Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

19-inch lightweight square

Front and rear
19 × 10 inch, ET20 · 275/35 R19

Apex's main B9 RS5 fitment, sitting flush at both ends without rubbing on compression. A good choice for track days or a lighter road set. The wheel design must clear the RS front calipers.

20-inch flush square

Front and rear
20 × 10 inch, ET20 · 285/30 R20

Widely run on RS5s at standard height. 285/30 R20 fills a 10-inch rim with no stretch. For a 10.5-inch rim, ET25 suits standard height and ET22 to ET23 suits a lowered car.

20-inch on lowering springs

Front and rear
20 × 9 inch, ET25 · 275/30 R20

A documented RS5 Sportback build on HRE FF01 wheels, lowered about 1 inch on ABT height-adjustable springs. This tucks the wheel face neatly inside the arch while keeping the factory tyre size.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

ET20 to ET26

Square 9 to 10.5-inch setups between ET20 and ET25 are well documented. A 10.5-inch wheel at ET35 is reported to touch suspension parts, so it needs spacers.

Common width limit

10.5 inch

10.5-inch wheels at about ET25 with 285 or 295 tyres are run on unmodified RS5 arches. 295s may need small spacers or a flat-head arch screw.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • Factory wheels use ball-seat M14x1.5 bolts. Match the seat type to any aftermarket wheel.
  • Torque is 120 Nm according to Audi's handbook figure for B9 models. One fitment database quotes 140 Nm; the manufacturer value is used here.
  • Audi's smallest factory wheel on the RS5 is 19 inches. Some 18-inch designs are claimed to clear the steel brakes, but this is unconfirmed, and cars with ceramic brakes should stay at 19 inches or above.
  • Not every 19-inch wheel clears the RS front calipers. Spoke shape and barrel profile matter more than the quoted diameter.
  • One owner running 20x10.5 ET25 with 295/30 R20 needed a 9 mm front spacer to clear the steering knuckle and swapped an arch screw for a flat-head type to stop rubbing.
  • Moving far from the factory rolling diameter can upset the quattro and stability systems. 285/30 R20 and 275/35 R19 stay close to stock.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions

What is the Audi RS5 B9 bolt pattern?

5x112 with a 66.5 mm centre bore and M14x1.5 ball-seat bolts, torqued to 120 Nm.

What wheel sizes does the B9 RS5 have from the factory?

19x9 ET24 with 265/35 R19 tyres as standard, and 20x9 ET26 with 275/30 R20 tyres as an option. Both are square.

Will 18-inch wheels fit an RS5 B9?

Audi does not offer one. Some owners say particular 18-inch designs clear the steel brakes, but it is not confirmed. With ceramic brakes, stay at 19 inches or above.

What tyre size fits a 20x10 wheel on an RS5?

285/30 R20. It sits without stretch on a 10-inch rim and stays close to the factory rolling diameter.

What offset do I need for 20x10.5 wheels on a B9 RS5?

About ET25 at standard height or ET22 to ET23 when lowered. ET35 at that width is reported to hit suspension parts.

What is the Audi RS5 B9 (F5) centre bore?

66.5 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.

What is the Audi RS5 B9 (F5) wheel bolt torque?

120 Nm (about 89 lb-ft) for the original bolts. Confirm in your handbook, especially with aftermarket wheels or bolts.
