Audi RS3 8Y wheel fitment

The RS3 8Y has a reverse-staggered factory package, with wider wheels and tyres at the front. Track owners also use square 18-inch sets, but the front offset difference makes spacers an essential part of those documented setups.

Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

18-inch reverse-staggered road and track

Front
18 × 9.5 inch, ET20 · 275/35 R18
Rear
18 × 9 inch, ET42 · 245/40 R18

Documented for Apex VS-5RS wheels. Street tyres fit with steel brakes; carbon-ceramic brakes require 3–5 mm front spacers and matching longer bolts. Wide track tyres may need extra camber.

18-inch square track setup

Front and rear
18 × 9 inch, ET42 · 255/35 R18

Apex fitment requires 18–22 mm front spacers and matching extended bolts or studs. ET42 is the wheel offset before spacers, giving an effective front ET20–24. Confirm the wheel design against the brake package.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • Factory wheels use ball-seat bolts. Match the bolt seat and length to the replacement wheel; a matching thread alone is not sufficient.
  • A larger aftermarket centre bore needs correctly sized hub rings; a smaller bore will not seat on the hub.
  • Use 120 Nm for factory wheel bolts. Audi's October 2023 workshop guide distinguishes RS3 8Y at 120 Nm from ordinary A3 8Y at 140 Nm. Some ECS instructions also quote 140 Nm; the manufacturer's RS3-specific value is used here.
  • The factory rear wheel is narrower and has a much higher offset than the front. Treat the two axles separately.
  • The 18-inch brake clearance statements apply to the named Apex designs, not every wheel of those dimensions.
  • Maintain a tyre pairing documented for this four-wheel-drive application. Factory front and rear tyres cannot be swapped between axles.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions

What is the Audi RS3 8Y bolt pattern?

5x112, with a 57.1 mm centre bore and M14x1.5 bolts.

Why are the RS3 8Y front wheels wider than the rear?

The factory reverse stagger helps reduce understeer. It uses 19x9 ET25 fronts and 19x8 ET46 rears.

Will 18-inch wheels fit an RS3 8Y?

Specific designs do. Apex lists an 18-inch VS-5RS reverse-staggered setup for steel brakes; its carbon-ceramic application needs 3–5 mm front spacers.

Does a square RS3 8Y setup need spacers?

The listed 18x9 ET42 setup needs 18–22 mm front spacers and matching extended hardware. Do not fit it using standard-length bolts.

Is RS3 8Y wheel bolt torque 120 or 140 Nm?

Audi's October 2023 workshop guide explicitly specifies 120 Nm for RS3 8Y. The 140 Nm A3 8Y entry is separate.

What size tyres does the Audi RS3 8Y have?

Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 2021–present Audi RS3 8Y are 265/30 R19 and 245/35 R19, depending on trim, with wider rears on staggered setups. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.

What wheel size does the Audi RS3 8Y use?

Factory wheels are 19 × 9 inch and 19 × 8 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.

What is the Audi RS3 8Y centre bore?

57.1 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.
