Audi RS3 8V wheel fitment

The RS3 8V came on 19-inch wheels, with an optional package that puts wider 255 tyres on the front axle only. Most owners who change wheels go to a square 18-inch set so the tyres can be rotated, and the main constraint is clearing the 370 mm eight-piston front brakes.

Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

18-inch square OEM+ daily

Front and rear
18 × 9 inch, ET42 · 255/35 R18

Listed by Apex as a direct fit with no spacers or hub rings, clearing both the steel and carbon-ceramic front brakes on its designs. 265/35 R18 also fits but grippier tyres may want extra negative camber.

18-inch square track setup

Front and rear
18 × 9.5 inch, ET41 · 265/35 R18

Apex's dedicated track fitment. No spacers needed, but extra front and rear negative camber may be required with aggressive 200TW or R-compound tyres. Dropping to 255/35 R18 avoids the camber need.

19-inch square street setup

Front and rear
19 × 9 inch, ET42 · 245/35 R19

Keeps the factory diameter while widening the wheel. 245/35 R19 is a direct fit; 255/35 R19 works with added negative camber if running track-focused tyres.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • Factory wheels use ball-seat bolts, while most aftermarket wheels need conical-seat bolts. Match the seat and length to the wheel, not just the thread.
  • The front brakes are 370 mm discs with eight-piston calipers. 18 inches is the smallest diameter documented to clear them, and clearance still depends on the spoke design.
  • The optional factory package is 8.5J ET53 front with 8J ET49 rear. One retailer database lists ET46/ET42 for these wheels instead; the ET49/ET53 figures are used here because two sources, including an owner reading the factory wheels, agree. Check the stamp on your own wheels.
  • Torque is 120 Nm, as quoted by LFI, ThreePiece and 8V owners. Audi's 11.2019 general workshop table lists 140 Nm for A3 types other than 8L, while its later 10.2023 edition is reported to give 120 Nm specifically for type 8V. If in doubt, check the figure in your car's handbook.
  • Aftermarket wheels with a 57.1 mm bore sit directly on the hub; a larger bore needs hub rings.
  • On the wide-front factory package the front and rear tyres differ, so they cannot be rotated between axles. A square set avoids this.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions

What is the bolt pattern of the Audi RS3 8V?

5x112 with a 57.1 mm centre bore. It uses M14x1.5 wheel bolts rather than nuts, tightened to 120 Nm.

What size are the factory RS3 8V wheels?

The standard set is 19x8 ET49 with 235/35 R19 tyres. An optional package used 19x8.5 ET53 fronts with 255/30 R19 tyres and 19x8 ET49 rears with 235/35 R19.

Will 18-inch wheels fit over the RS3 8V brakes?

Yes, with the right design. Apex lists 18x9 ET42 and 18x9.5 ET41 wheels that clear both the steel and carbon-ceramic front brakes. Smaller than 18 inches will not clear.

What tyre size fits 18x9.5 wheels on an RS3 8V?

265/35 R18 is the usual track choice, with extra negative camber if using sticky tyres. 255/35 R18 fits more easily.

What wheel size does the Audi RS3 8V use?

Factory wheels are 19 × 8 inch and 19 × 8.5 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.

What is the Audi RS3 8V centre bore?

57.1 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.

What is the Audi RS3 8V wheel bolt torque?

120 Nm (about 89 lb-ft) for the original bolts. Confirm in your handbook, especially with aftermarket wheels or bolts.
