Honda Civic / Civic Si / Civic Type R 8th gen (FA/FD/FG/FK/FN) wheel fitment

The eighth-generation Civic came on 15, 16 or 17-inch wheels in North America, with the Japanese FD2 and European FN2 Type Rs on 18s. Every version uses the same 5x114.3 hub, so owners swap freely between factory and aftermarket wheels, and 17-inch wheels around 8 to 9 inches wide are the usual upgrade for street and track cars.

5x114.3 bolt pattern · 64.1 mm centre bore · Stock wheels: 16 × 6.5, 15 × 6, 17 × 7, 18 × 7.5 inch · Stock tyres: 205/55 R16, 195/65 R15, 215/45 R17, 225/40 R18

Popular community setups

Starting points for a build. Read the notes with each setup, especially if your car is lowered or has different brakes.

17x9 square on standard suspension

Front and rear
17 × 9 inch, ET35 · 225/45 R17

ThreePiece's 8th gen build guide shows an FA5 Si saloon on Enkei RPF1 17x9 ET35 wheels and 225/45 R17 tyres at standard ride height, with unrolled arches and no rubbing reported.

18x8.5 on lowering springs

Front and rear
18 × 8.5 inch, ET45

The same guide shows a saloon on Advan RZ 18x8.5 ET45 wheels with H&R lowering springs and no arch work. The tyre size is given inconsistently on the page (225/40 or 245/40 R18), so check it before copying the setup.

17x9 track setup on coilovers

Front and rear
17 × 9 inch, ET40 · 235/40 R17

An Si in the ThreePiece guide runs Volk TE37 17x9 ET40 wheels with 235/40 R17 semi-slicks on Fortune Auto coilovers, adjustable rear arms and front camber bolts, with the arches rolled but not pulled.

Width and offset guidance

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • North American saloons and coupes, the Japanese FD saloons and the FN2 Type R all use 5x114.3 with a 64.1 mm hub, M12x1.5 nuts and 108 Nm (80 lb ft). Later Type Rs such as the FK8 use 5x120 instead.
  • Factory wheels on the North American cars are all ET45. The FD2 Type R wheel is ET60 and the FN2 Type R wheel ET55, so they sit further inside the arch than an Si wheel of the same width.
  • Wider, lower setups need work. In the ThreePiece guide, 17x8.5 ET30 with 245/40 R17 was run with rolled and pulled arches on coilovers, and 17x9 wheels around ET30 needed spacers, rolled arches and two to three degrees of negative camber to clear.
  • Spacers push the wheel outwards and use up the arch clearance quickly. Several of the lower builds in the guide report some rubbing even after arch work.
  • Aftermarket wheels with a 73.1 mm bore need 73.1 to 64.1 mm hub-centric rings. Use nuts with the seat type the wheel needs; most aftermarket wheels take a 60-degree taper.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions

What is the bolt pattern of the 2006–2011 Civic?

5x114.3, with a 64.1 mm centre bore and M12x1.5 wheel nuts. This covers the DX, LX, EX and Si as well as the FD2 and FN2 Type R.

What wheels does an 8th gen Civic Si have?

17x7 ET45 with 215/45 R17 tyres on both the coupe and the saloon. Tyre retailers also list an 18-inch option with 215/40 R18.

Will a 17x9 wheel fit without arch work?

One has been documented at ET35 with 225/45 R17 tyres on a standard-height car with no rubbing. Going lower or wider, or using a smaller offset, usually means rolling the arches and adding camber.

Do FD2 or FN2 Type R wheels bolt onto a US Civic?

Yes, the bolt pattern and hub are the same. Their higher offsets (ET60 and ET55) and 7.5-inch width put the inner edge of the wheel closer to the suspension than the factory Si wheel, so check the gap to the strut.

What size tyres does the Honda Civic / Civic Si / Civic Type R 8th gen (FA/FD/FG/FK/FN) have?

Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 2006–2011 Honda Civic / Civic Si / Civic Type R 8th gen (FA/FD/FG/FK/FN) are 205/55 R16, 195/65 R15, 215/45 R17 and 225/40 R18, depending on trim. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.

What wheel size does the Honda Civic / Civic Si / Civic Type R 8th gen (FA/FD/FG/FK/FN) use?

Factory wheels are 16 × 6.5 inch, 15 × 6 inch, 17 × 7 inch and 18 × 7.5 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.

What is the Honda Civic / Civic Si / Civic Type R 8th gen (FA/FD/FG/FK/FN) centre bore?

64.1 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.

What is the Honda Civic / Civic Si / Civic Type R 8th gen (FA/FD/FG/FK/FN) wheel nut torque?

108 Nm (about 80 lb-ft) for the original nuts. Confirm in your handbook, especially with aftermarket wheels or nuts.
