Jeep Wrangler JK wheel fitment

The JK community commonly pairs 17-inch wheels with 33- or 35-inch tyres. Moving away from the deeply inset factory wheels creates more room inboard, but larger tyres still need suspension and wheelarch clearance checks.

Popular community setups

AEV-style 35-inch touring setup

Front and rear
17 × 8.5 inch, ET10 · 35x12.50 R17

Owners use the AEV positive-offset wheel with a suspension lift. Check tyre-to-control-arm clearance and bump-stop requirements for the chosen lift.

Wider 35-inch trail setup

Front and rear
17 × 9 inch, ET-12 · 35x12.50 R17

A common JK combination with around 2.5 inches of lift. Full articulation may need additional bump-stop or arch clearance; parked clearance is not sufficient.

Offset range

Check the exact setup

There is no confirmed range for this car yet. Compare a known wheel with your proposed size and measure both sides.

Common width limit

Measure before ordering

A maximum width has not been confirmed. Tyre shape, ride height and alignment all change the available space.

These figures belong to the setups described here. Combining the widest wheel with either end of the offset range does not guarantee a safe fit. For how ET moves the wheel in and out, read wheel offset explained; for how far the tyre can sit out, see flush, poke and tucked fitment.

Clearance notes

  • A single torque figure is omitted because JK manuals differ. The cited 2011 manual specifies 130 Nm; the 2014 and 2017 manuals specify 135 Nm. Follow the manual for the vehicle year.
  • Do not replace the factory specification with a generic torque table based only on the nut thread.
  • The JK uses imperial 1/2-20 wheel nuts. The later JL uses metric M14x1.5 despite sharing the five-stud pattern.
  • A matching PCD does not establish clearance around the brake caliper or steering components. Use a JK-approved wheel and its specified nut seat.
  • Stock rows describe common US packages; export and special-edition tyres vary.
  • The base 16-inch steel-wheel row is omitted because catalogues disagree on its offset; check the exact factory part number.
  • Check full steering lock and suspension travel with the car loaded. Match wheel load rating, tyre load and speed ratings, fastener seats and brake clearance.

Questions

What bolt pattern does a Wrangler JK use?

The JK uses 5x127 with a nominal 71.5 mm hub bore.

Are JK wheel nuts metric?

No. The wheel stud thread is 1/2-20 UNF. Do not fit the metric nuts used by a JL.

What lift is needed for 35-inch tyres?

Many documented JK builds use around 2.5 inches of lift, but wheel offset, bump stops and arch clearance still need checking through suspension travel.

What is the correct JK wheel nut torque?

Use the model-year manual. The cited 2011 manual gives 130 Nm, while the cited 2014 and 2017 manuals give 135 Nm.

What size tyres does the Jeep Wrangler JK have?

Factory tyre (tire) sizes for the 2007–2018 Jeep Wrangler JK are 255/75 R17 and 255/70 R18, depending on trim. Your tyre placard shows the size for your car.

What wheel size does the Jeep Wrangler JK use?

Factory wheels are 17 × 7.5 inch and 18 × 7.5 inch, depending on trim. The stock table lists the offset for each.

What is the Jeep Wrangler JK centre bore?

71.5 mm. Aftermarket wheels with a larger bore need hub-centric rings sized to it.
